NOTICE OF THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2012

Notice is hereby given that the City of Homer will conduct a Regular Election on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

POLLING PLACES FOR THE CITY OF HOMER ELECTION:
• Homer No. 1, 35-010: City Hall Cowles Council Chambers, downstairs in the City Hall Building located at 491 E. Pioneer Avenue
• Homer No. 2, 35-020: Homer Senior Citizens located at 3935 Svedlund

The purpose of this election is to elect a Mayor for a term two years and two City Council members for a term of three years each.

CITY OF HOMER ABSENTEE VOTING
Eligibility for absentee voting is specified in Homer City Code Title 4 and Alaska Statutes Title 15. Any voter who will be unavoidably absent from his voting precinct on election day or unable to be present at the polls because of physical disability may vote an absentee ballot.

Mail Applications: Address to City Clerk, City of Homer, 491 E. Pioneer Avenue, Homer, Alaska 99603. Applications are acceptable when postmarked no later than Friday, September 28, 2012, before the election, October 2, 2012. Applications are available on line at www.cityofhomer-ak.gov/cityclerk or at the City Clerk’s Office. To be counted, absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than the day of the election, October 2, 2012 and received by the City Clerk before the canvass of ballots, October 5, 2012.
Electronic Transmission Applications: Applications are accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2012 and returned to the City Clerk by electronic transmission no later than 8:00 p.m. on election day.
In Person: Absentee voting in person will be available at Homer City Hall, 491 E. Pioneer Avenue, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, September 17 through October 1, 2012.
Special Needs Voting: Qualified voters who are disabled may vote by Special Needs/Personal Representative during the absentee voting period and the day of the election.
