Bryan Zak, Council
Councilmember Bryan Zak was elected to office October 7, 2008 and reelected October 5, 2010 and October 1, 2013.
Mr. Zak is employed as Regional Director for the Southwest Alaska Small Business Development Center. He provides business counseling, workshops, and advocacy for small business owners on the Kenai Peninsula. He occasionally travels to remote Alaska Villages to provide training and counseling to small business owners. He leads the measurement and analysis assessment team for the State SBDC.
Mr. Zak presently serves as a National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) Baldrige Examiner (2010). Past experience includes Alaska Performance Excellence Award Examiner 2008 and 2009, City of Homer Planning Commission 2007 and 2008, National Faculty for the Community Association Institute 2006 through 2008, Quality Air Force Chief of Staff of the Air Force criteria author 1997, Secretary of the Air Force Quality Award author 1997, International Benchmarking Clearinghouse Benchmarking examiner 1993, retired Air Force Officer, Instructor Electronic Warfare Officer B-52 and B-1B.
Mr. Zak currently volunteers as Assistant District Governor for Rotary District 5010 and as an outreach committee member for the Homer United Methodist Church. He is City of Homer appointed representative to the Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District.
Bryan Zak owns Alaska Adventure Cabins and Zak’s Realty and is a licensed Alaska Real Estate Broker.
His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and gardening.
