Waddell Way Road and Water Main Improvement

On March 3, 2016, bids were received for the Waddell Way Road and Water Main Improvement project.  This work was advertised in the Homer Tribune - January 27 and February 3, 2016; and in the Peninsula Clarion - January 31, 2016. Procurement procedures were in accordance with the City’s procurement regulations.

This project consists of the construction of 1500 LF of road and water main along Waddell Way from Lake Street to Heath Street, including sidewalk, bike lanes, street lighting, pavement markings and drainage improvements. The project is funded through a State Legislative grant and the HART Program (per Ordinances 14-42(S) and 15-30).

Seven responsive bids were received from qualified firms.  The bid results were evaluated and the results are as follows.

The City’s 5% local bidder’s preference does apply. The low bidder was local.

The low bid is within the project budget approved by the City Council. Public Works expects the work to commence this Spring and be complete by August 15.

Recommendation:

City Council pass a resolution awarding the construction contract for the Waddell Way Road and Water Main Improvement project in the amount of $925,570.00 to East Road Services, Inc. of Homer, Alaska, and authorizing the City Manager to execute all appropriate documents necessary to complete this project.
