Shellfish/South Slope Water Main and PRV Project

On March 3, 2016, bids were received for the Shellfish/South Slope Water Main and PRV project.  This work was advertised in the Homer Tribune – March 23 and March 30, 2016; and in the Peninsula Clarion – March 27, 2016. Procurement procedures were in accordance with the City’s procurement regulations.

This project consists of the construction of 2700 LF of water main along Shellfish Avenue and South Slope Drive and the installation of a PRV station on Shellfish Avenue from Mountainview Drive to East Hill Road.

Five responsive bids were received from qualified firms.  The bid results were evaluated and the results are as follows.

The City’s 5% local bidder’s preference does apply. The low bidder was local.

The low bid is within the project budget approved by the City Council. Public Works expects the work to commence this summer and be complete by August 15.

Recommendation:

City Council pass a resolution awarding the construction contract for the Shellfish/South Slope Water Main and Shellfish Avenue PRV  project in the amount of $530,341 to Arno Construction, Inc. of Homer, Alaska and authorizing the City Manager to execute all appropriate documents necessary to complete this project.
