ORDINANCE 12-30

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A LEGISLATIVE GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,150,000 FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE NATURAL GAS PIPELINE FROM ANCHOR POINT TO HOMER AND KACHEMAK CITY.

WHEREAS, The City of Homer has advocated for natural gas service in the community for many years because it would stimulate the economy, lower the cost of living, and provide a cleaner burning fuel consistent with the adopted Climate Action Plan; and

WHEREAS, The Alaska Legislature included $8.15 Million in the FY 2013 State Capital Budget for construction of a natural gas pipeline from Anchor Point to Homer and Kachemak City; and

WHEREAS, The City Council wishes to accept the grant, appropriate the funds, and contract for construction of the pipeline as quickly as possible.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Homer:

Section 1. The Homer City Council hereby accepts and appropriates a Legislative Grant in the amount of $8.15 Million for construction of a natural gas pipeline from Anchor Point to Homer and Kachemak City as follows:

Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to execute all appropriate documents associated with the grant.
