Event Title: NOTICE OF INTENT TO BEGIN ENVIRONMENTAL & ENGINEERING STUDIES: Homer Ferry Terminal Improvements
Date/Time: Fri, Mar 21st (All day)
Location:

To continue providing safe access and berthing for the Alaska Marine Highway System ferries in Homer, Homer Ferry Terminal is in need of improvements.  The proposed project would improve the dock fenders and other mooring structure systems.

Specific activities would:

  • Refurbish five existing dock fender panels
  • Install four new dock fender panels to decrease spacing between existing fenders
  • Replace two 7-pile mooring dolphins with two 9-pile dolphin structures
  • Add a covered pedestrian walkway to the east approach
  • Repair, replace or provide new mooring bollard(s) on dock surface and conduct other assorted minor dock refurbishment measures, as necessary

DOT&PF proposes to use federal funds to complete these Improvements on behalf of the City of Homer.  Construction is projected for 2015.
