On November 1st we’ll hold a special Get Lit event to remember the things and people we’ve lost. Come prepared to write about a person who’s passed away, a former family home, a pet, or anything that was precious to you that is no longer part of your life.
If possible, we’re asking participants to bring a photo of the person or place that you wish to remember.
Writing helps us remember the emotions as well as the particulars of loss. We’ll look at some sample elegies and other writings that focus on loss, and also take some time for writing (as well as some snacks).
Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died.
The Get Lit series is open to everyone and is free!
