HVFD Members provided: 2,620 hours responding to emergencies
3,287 hours training
284 hours in prevention activities
779 hours in “other” services
6,970 total hours directly engaged in HVFD related activities
It is estimated that the “value” of volunteer hours for the State of Alaska is $21.96/hour, which means that HVFD members contributed more than $153,061 in direct services to the community. This does not take into account the countless hours on-call and being available to respond 24/7/365.
