On Friday, August 16 the Trunk line running from Anchor Point into Homer was energized with natural gas. Enstar officials warned residents to not be alarmed by the rotten egg smell emitted as the gas moves through the pipe. Though there is natural gas in the line, no one is connected to gas...yet. Enstar hopes to begin hooking up customers by mid-September and will start purging and energizing service lines after the Labor Day holiday. Homes and businesses in the Homer downtown core area will be hooked up first (see a map of the core area here).
