Coal Point
One of our best kept secrets in the Homer Parks inventory, Coal Point Park is located at the end of Fish Dock Road on the southern side of the mouth of the harbor. This lovely historical park showcases the history of the coal industry on the southern peninsula and the role that the Homer Spit played in that industry. There is an interpretive sign developed with the assistance of the Pratt Museum with photos that guide visitors through the history and the evolution of the spit. The Homer Spit Trail will lead you right there, with picnic tables and trash cans. This is a very popular spot for beach fishing for locals and visitors alike. It is also a great location for boat watchers.
