RESOLUTION 12-055
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CYLINDRICAL RUBBER FENDER UNITS FOR THE DEEPWATER DOCK FENDER REPLACEMENT PROJECT FROM THE FIRM OF FENDERTEAM AMERICAS, INC. OF LANSDOWNE, VIRGINIA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $58,672 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, The City Council authorized acceptance of the Cruise Ship Passenger Enhancement grant from the State of Alaska for cruise ship dock and passenger facility improvements which includes replacing the fendering system at the Deepwater Dock (Ord. 11-48); and
WHEREAS, Public Works has expedited the design and bidding for the project in an attempt to have a Contractor complete the DWD fender replacement within a narrow construction window, so that the fenders are in place for the 2013 cruise ship season; and
WHEREAS, The cylindrical rubber fender units are a long lead time delivery item; to accomplish the work within the narrow window of opportunity, the City needs to pre-order these units for installation by the Contractor; and
WHEREAS, Per the City of Homer’s Procurement Policy, Public Works solicited quotes from the two firms known to manufacture these rubber units; two quotes were received, and Fenderteam Americas, Inc. quoted the lowest price (see Memorandum 12-094); and
WHEREAS, This award is not final until notice is received by Fenderteam Americas, Inc. of Lansdowne, Virginia, from the City of Homer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska, hereby approves the purchase of cylindrical rubber fender units for the Deepwater Dock Fender Replacement Project from the firm of Fenderteam Americas, Inc. of Lansdowne, Virginia, in the Amount of $58,672 and the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents.
