RESOLUTION 12-060(S)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO JAY-BRANT GENERAL CONTRACTORS, OF HOMER, ALASKA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $525,912 FOR THE BELUGA SLOUGH TRAIL RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, A Community Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CCIAP) grant has been secured through Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development; Division of Community and Regional Affairs in the amount of $448,116 for the reconstruction of the Beluga Slough Trail; and
WHEREAS, Additional grant funds were obtained from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the amount of $25,000; and from the Kenai Peninsula Borough in the amount of $65,000; and
WHEREAS, The City completed the design of the project in 2011 ($30,000), meeting the matching requirements for the project grants; and
WHEREAS, In accordance with the Procurement Policy the Invitation to Bid was advertised in the Homer News on May 24 and 31, 2012, in the Peninsula Clarion on May 31, 2012, posted on the Clerk's home page, and sent to in-state plans rooms; and
WHEREAS, Sealed proposals were due by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012 and three bids were received; and
WHEREAS, Bids were opened and reviewed and the firm of Jay-Brant General Contractors was determined to be the low responsive bidder and found to be qualified to complete the work; and
WHEREAS, This award is not final until written notification is received by Jay-Brant General Contractors of Homer, Alaska, from the City of Homer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Homer, Alaska, approves the award of the construction contract for the Beluga Slough Reconstruction Project to Jay-Brant General Contractors of Homer, Alaska, in the amount of $525,912 and authorizes the City Manager to execute the appropriate documents to complete construction.
