PENDING BUSINESS

1.     Debrief of 4th of July Celebration

Event was a success, with estimates at 800 people served food without running out.  Lines were long with people waiting up to 2 hours, but no one received any complaints.  Public had a great time, with many “thank you”, “best 4th of July ever”, and “when are we doing this again” comments, Terry conveyed thanks to the committee on behalf of Mayor Hornaday.  Thank you letter for all volunteers sent to the Homer Tribune and Homer News to be printed right after event, but both newspapers misplaced and will print in next week’s paper.  Historical photograph and many parade photographs were received by Terry.  City IT is working on posting on the city website for public viewing and download.  Craig can assist people with downloading and printing at Tech Connect.  Approved printing and framing the historical photo for display in council chambers.  Terry will handle.

2.      Budget review

Revised budget to reflect actual advertising expenses. Determined remaining budget will be used for photograph framing and possible costs for additional food from the celebration.  Discussed flag sale proceeds and determined to have Chamber apply sale proceeds to the 4th of July  parade expenses.

3.      Calendar of Events

Statehood Show and Tell :  The sharing of Statehood memories and memorabilia will be held at the Pratt Museum on Saturday, October 17th from 1-4 pm.

Determined New Year’s Eve Fireworks discussed previously will not take place due to lack of remaining funds.

Putting on the Ritz scheduled for the 1st week of November will have the theme “Fabulous Fifties”.

Borough may still be planning a borough wide bonfire in October.  Will determine participation once information is received.
