Meeting Synopsis

Session 08-02 a meeting of the 50^th Anniversary of Statehood Committee was called to order by Chair Tina Day 6:05 pm on November 9, 2008 in the City Hall Conference Room located at 491 E. Pioneer Avenue, Homer Alaska.

Present: Tina Day, Craig Forrest, Mayor Jim Hornaday

VISITORS – none

NEW BUSINESS

1. Budget: Tina went over the budget for the years events. It will be put before the council prior to the October 27^th Council meeting.

PENDING BUSINESS

A Calendar of events was started with at least one activity per month for 2009. These were the tentative events talked about duties will be assigned as we move forward:

• January – bon fire, the KPB 50^th anniversary committee has formed a group to work on the bonfires borough wide. We will hear from them with details soon.
• February – winter carnival by the chamber themed around the 50^th.
• March – North Pacific Fisheries Association – Seafood dinner, Tina will contact that organization.
• April – The Pratt, library, theater, schools any combination of these have a film night event or history event.
• May – Shorebird festival & Seafest with the Chamber
• June – Spit Run
• July – 4^th of July celebration with parade, community picnic, dance, street fair, concert possibly on the “Hickory” with the Air Force Band of the Pacific. Mayor Hornaday will gather “pioneers” to be on a float together.
• August –ARTrageous, Dru will talk to Gaye Wolf about incorporating this theme into Art.

• November – Ritz may be a possibility
