SUBJ: TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION FOR MAYOR, COUNCIL, CITY MANAGER AND OTHER CITY OFFICIALS TO ATTEND THE 53RD LOCAL GOVERNMENT CONFERENCE AND ASSOCIATED MEETINGS DURING THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 9, 2003 TO BE HELD IN NOME, ALASKA.

The City of Homer Procurement Policy and Procedures Manual, page 50, sets for the procedure for Travel Authorization for Mayor, Council and Staff. Travel authorization is required for trips exceeding $250 total estimated cost.

This authorization request is for the Mayor, Councilmembers, City Manager and other City Officials to attend the 2003 Annual AML Conference and Associated meetings during the week of November 9th.

Conference Registration is $250, after October 15th is $275. Newly Elected Officials Seminar is $150, after October 15th is $175.

Travel is $0.36 per mile for POV and Per diem is $53.00 per day, three meals each.

No estimates have been provided for air fare to Nome or Room fees.

RECOMMENDATION:

Authorize Mayor, Council, City Manager, and other City officials to attend the 2003 Annual AML Conference and Associated meetings in Nome during the week of November 9th, as budget allows.
