SUBJECT: Site Selection for the New Public Library

In my absence from the May 12, 2003, Regular Homer City Council Meeting, I feel that I have to make you all aware of my feelings concerning this matter.

It is my preference that the City Council approve the use of all 8 City owned lots on the North side of Hazel Street for the new Library location.

As there is considerably more land in those lots than will be needed for the Library and required parking , the balance if property designed could possibly become the home of the Town Square.

Yes, you have heard me correctly, use the excess land for the Town Square. This land is across the Poopdeck Right-of-Way, so it would be immediately adjacent to the Poopdeck Park.

Whether the Town Square part of this works out or not, I still feel this is the proper site for the Library. We should NOT put off this selection any longer.
