SUBJ: AUTHORIZATION FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS AND DEPARTMENT HEADS TO ATTEND THE AML SUMMER LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE MEETING AND ALASKA CONFERENCE OF MAYORS AND AML BOARD MEETING IN KENAI AUGUST 19 - 21, 2004.

The City of Homer Procurement Policy and Procedures Manual, page 50, sets for the procedure for Travel Authorization for Mayor, Council and Staff. Travel authorization is required for trips exceeding $250 total estimated cost.

This authorization request is for the Mayor, Council and Department Heads to attend the Alaska Municipal League Summer Legislative Committee Meeting, the Alaska Conference of Mayors and the AML Board Meeting to be held in Kenai August 19-21, 2004.

Round Trip Air fare from Homer to Kenai as of July 20, 2004 is $162.40. POV is approximately $57.00 @ $0.375/mile. Room rates will vary since this is the tourist season and seem to be averaging about $120 per night plus tax. Total per diem is $53.00 per day, for three meals each.

There is no registration fee.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the requested authorization.
