SUBJ: CONFIRMATION OF ELECTION WORKERS FOR THE GENERAL/REGULAR CITY OF HOMER ELECTION - OCTOBER 5, 2004 AND ALL PROCESSES THEREOF PURSUANT TO HOMER CITY CODE AND AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE CITY CLERK.

Pursuant to Homer City Code Sections 4.20.010 & 4.35.010 the Polling Place Judges are approved by City Council and the Canvass Board is confirmed by the City Council. Election Central Judges and Absentee Voting Officials are appointed by the City Clerk and require no approval or confirmation of the City Council.

RECOMMENDATION :

Confirm the appointment of the Canvass Board and approve the appointment of the Polling Place judges for the City of Homer 2004 General/Regular City Election.

Note: Homer City Code 4.20.010(b) The City Clerk shall be the election supervisor. The City Clerk may appoint judges and other election officials as needed to conduct an orderly election and to relieve the election judges of undue hardship. If any appointed election board member is unable or refuses to serve on election day, the Clerk shall appoint a replacement for that member.

FISCAL INFORMATION:

Polling Place - $10.00/hr chairs, $9.50/hr judges; 12-18 hours. $12.00 Canvass Board; 2 to 4 hours or until done. Acct: 100.102.5101--5107
