SUBJ: TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS, CITY MANAGER AND DEPARTMENT HEADS TO ATTEND THE 2004 ANNUAL ALASKA MUNICIPAL LEAGUE CONFERENCE AND ASSOCIATED MEETINGS IN FAIRBANKS THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 7, 2004.

The City of Homer Procurement Policy and Procedures Manual, page 50, sets for the procedure for Travel Authorization for Mayor, Council and Staff. Travel authorization is required for trips exceeding $250 total estimated cost.

This authorization request is for the Mayor, Council, City Manager and Department Heads to attend the Alaska Municipal League 2004 Annual Conference and Associated Meetings during the week of November 7, 2004.

Round Trip Air fare from Homer to Fairbanks is 346.70. POV is $0.375/mile. Room rates at the Fairbanks Westmark, the Conference Hotel, are $75 per night. Total per diem is $53.00 per day, for three meals each.

Registration fee is $350 for Newly Elected Officials Seminar and Full Conference. $250 for Full Conference. $125 per day. Preconference session fees vary depending on session.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the requested authorization.
