SUBJ: FIRE DEPARTMENT STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE, APPOINTMENTS.

The Fire Chief, Bob Painter, has advised that five years have passed since the last Fire Department Strategic Planning Group and that it is once again time for long range planning for the Fire Department.

Appointments are as follows:

Doug Stark, Councilmember

Walt Wrede, City Manager

Bob Painter, Fire Chief

Gary Thomas, Homer Volunteer Firefighter

Mary Griswold, Homer Volunteer EMS

Gary Kulesza, Contractor

Phil Morris, Mayor of Kachemak City

Pat Johnson, Kachemak Emergency Services Area Board

Kurt Marquardt, General member of the public

Fire Chief Painter anticipates it taking a couple of months of weekly meetings to gather the necessary data to provide the Committee with the necessary information to complete a Strategic Plan, completion date is targeted for May 31, 2004.

RECOMMENDATION:

Confirm the appointments to the Strategic Planning Committee as listed above.
