Including Four (4) Foot Wide Pedestrian Walkways

Discussion

Attached please find two revised spreadsheets ( #1-A & #2-A) which have been revised to include pavement widening to provide a 4’ wide paved pedestrian walkway in conjunction with the proposed repaving project.

1. Spreadsheet 1-A identifies the streets that were paved under the 1983/84 strip paving program including street length, width and the current asphalt condition (good, fair & poor). Also included are the existing pavement widths and existing shoulder to shoulder widths.

2. Spreadsheet 2-A is the revised cost estimate to repave the streets identified as Group “A” with the inclusion of an expanded paving width to accommodate the requested 4’ wide pedestrian walkways. The total estimate, for budgeting purposes, to repave/pave these roads is $575,581.93.

Recommendation

1. Appropriate $600,000.00 this fiscal year from the H.A.R.P. fund for the design & construction to include grinding of the existing asphalt and repave the streets as identified with the expanded pavement width to accommodate inclusion of the 4’ wide pedestrian walkway.
