The recent increase
in the cost of steel, lumber and copper has put pressure on our budget. By eliminating some of the furnishings (some
of the painting, lockers, sinks, cabinets, etc.) and some exterior work
(seeding, landscaping, gutters/downspouts); the project is within the
approved
budget. The eliminated items can and
will be accomplished by animal shelter volunteers.
Recommendation: The Council identify a funding mechanism to
augment available funds and authorize the City Manager to execute all
documents
necessary to bid and construct the facility.
