SUBJECT: LIBRARY FEE REVISION

I met with the Library Advisory Board on the 1st, and we reached agreement of the following:

1. The $6 fee for non-resident library cards will be eliminated.

2. The $5 per half hour fee for use of computers from 1 June to 30 September will be

voluntary. Signs will be posted, including on the computer screens, and a receptacle for

donations is available.

3. There will be a voluntary charge of $2 for movie video checkouts. This will still be less than

businesses charge.

My feeling is that the income will match the $40,000 budgeted. Finance staff is nervous because there is no historical record and feels that a budget revision is in order until next year when such a record is in place. So be it.

RECOMMENDATION : Revise the budget accordingly.
