RE: Community Schools Agreement

Attached you will find the Community Schools Agreement between the City and the School District. The Agreement is for one year with a renewal for five years. The City will have the use of school facilities at no charge with minimal charges for the use of the theatre.

The Council has approved this program for one year with the outcome to be determined by the election this fall. The Community Schools program has been placed under the Administration Department and will be supervised by Personnel. Mike Illg has been hired and will begin working for the City July 1^st. The first few months will involve setting up procedures for accounting of funds and expenses, hiring procedures for instructional staff and reviewing fees and procedures for setting up classes. Mike will continue to look for new classes to offer.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve Community Schools Agreement and Authorize the City Manager to sign.

FISCAL IMPACT: $65,000 has been budgeted for 2006.
