Construction Contract Award Recommendations

HARP Project No. 160-768

Discussion:

On July 19, 2006 bids were publicly opened for the above referenced project. This bid was advertised in the Homer Tribune, Peninsula Clarion and the Anchorage Daily News. Only one bid was received. Below is the result;

· Quality Asphalt Paving $492,400.00

Public Works has reviewed the bid and evaluated the responsiveness of the bidder. The apparent low responsive bidder is Quality Asphalt Paving, Anchorage, AK. The Engineer’s estimate is $552,883.50.

The amount authorized by the City Council for this project, per Ordinance No. 04-16(A) and Resolution No. 06-60 is $600,000.00.

100% of the cost of this project will be paid for directly by the HARP fund with all project costs being charged to 160-768.

Award Recommendation:

Award this contract to Quality Asphalt Paving, 240 W. 68^th Ave., Anchorage, AK 99518 in the amount of $492,400.00 and authorize the City Manager to execute all required contract documents.
