SUBJ: TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION FOR JUNEAU LOBBYING TRIP FOR MAYOR AND/OR UP TO TWO COUNCILMEMBERS.

During their Committee of the Whole and Regular Meeting on March 13, 2006 the Council briefly discussed lobbying for the Deep Water Dock Expansion and about general lobbying and a lobbying trip to Juneau for approximately the second week of April.

The City of Homer Procurement Policy and Procedures Manual, page 50, sets for the procedure for Travel Authorization for Mayor, Council and City Manager. Travel authorization is required for trips exceeding $250 total estimated cost.

This authorization request is for the Mayor and/or up to two Councilmembers for a lobbying trip to Juneau, approximately the second week in April.

Round Trip Air fare is approximately $600.00. Room rates are approximately $100 per night. Per diem is $53.00 per day, for three meals.

POV reimbursement is $0.445 per mile up to airfare rate, may be used for travel to Anchorage instead of flying out of Homer.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the requested authorization.
