Subject: Public Works & Police Department Vehicle Bids

Discussion

On March 02, 2007 sealed bids were opened for the above referenced Public Works & Police Department Vehicles purchase.

This invitation to bid was mailed directly to Great Bear Ford, Soldotna, Cal Worthington Ford, Anchorage and NYE Ford, Wasilla on February 02, 2007. Bids were received from two of the vendors, NYE Ford and Cal Worthington Ford. The bid results are found on the attached summary.

Although Cal Worthington's bid was lower for the purchase of the Parks flatbed 4x4, NYE Ford was the lowest responsive bidder for the entire package.

Recommendation

Award the purchase of these vehicles to NYE Frontier Ford, 2701 E. Mt. Village Dr., Wasilla, AK 99654 in the total amount of $144,982.00.

Fiscal Note

This purchase is budgeted in the Fleet Fund Accounts 152.5902.383 (Public Works), 152.5902.374 (Police Department) and 152.5902.382 (Port). Total Amount budgeted, all accounts: $184,000.00.

The remaining balances in these accounts, shall be used for vehicle equipment including snow tires, mobile radios, fire extinguishers, tool racks etc. and a snow plow for the 1-Ton 4x4 which will be used for plowing and sanding at the Port Facilities.
