Re:         Homer Area Coordinated Transportation Plan

Attached for your review is the Homer Area Coordinated Transportation Plan forwarded to the city by Fred Lau, Director of the Homer Senior Citizens.  This plan was developed by several agencies in town including:  Homer Senior Citizens, Independent Living Center, South Peninsula Behavioral Health Services (Pride), Anchor Point Senior Citizens, Ninilchik Senior Citizens, and several local cab companies.

Over the years, these groups have applied and received transportation funds through the Alaska DOTPF that benefit the mentally disabled, handicapped, low income, and elderly population on the Southern Kenai Peninsula.  The Federal Government has now established new requirements for these agencies to follow in order to receive these   funds.  One of the requirements is a “Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan” that must be adopted or endorsed by a “public body”.
