Subject: Homer Public Library

Authorization to Purchase and Install Video/Security System

The Homer Public Library has experienced security and vandalism problems. Working with the Police, Library, and IT Departments; Public Works prepared an RFP to solicit proposals to install a video a surveillance system that will provide security both inside and outside the facility.

Two proposals were received:

Johnson Controls, Inc. Anchorage Alaska $49,875

Puffin Electric Homer Alaska $44,385

The selection committee has reviewed the proposals and has determined that each was responsive. The proposals were scored using the criteria presented in the RFP and the committee has determined that the proposal from Puffin Electric, Homer, Alaska ranked highest.

Recommendation: The City award the purchase and installation of this video/security system to the firm of Puffin Electric for the amount of $44,385. Funding for this project will come from the library construction contingency budget previously approved by the Council (151-722-5901).
