TO: MAYOR
HORNADAY AND HOMER CITY
COUNCIL
FROM: COUNCILMAN
DOUG STARK
DATE: COUNCIL
MEETING OF 29 MAY
2007
SUBJECT: STATE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TRIP REPORT
I attended the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce Legislative
Wrap-Up in Anchorage on
the 22nd. Since I was on the Chamber's
Board in the late 80s and Chairman of a number of its committees and on the
Anchorage Chamber and its Executive Committee as well as Chairman of its
Legislative Committee at the same time, I was able to greet a number of old
friends who are able to influence legislators.
I also managed to chat with Governor Palin and her husband, and with Revenue Commissioner Pat
Galvin, DNR Commissioner Tom Irwin
and his Deputy Marty Rutherford, and ASCC President Wayne Stevens and his Board
Chairman Wendy Lindskoog and Legislative Committee
Chairman Knudson. ASCC supported
PERS/TERS solutions and Revenue Sharing in this year's session.
As I've stated in the past, legislative
accomplishments in Alaska are
based on personal relationships and the day's activities were fruitful for
Homer.
