Subject: Recommendation to establish City ombudsman position

At its meeting of November 12, the Economic Development Advisory Commission (EDC) discussed issues relating to frustrations of local business owners and others seeking approval from the City to move ahead with development projects. Further discussion took place on what the City might do to send the message that Homer is “open for business.”

In this context, the EDC passed a motion requesting that the Homer City Council explore establishing an ombudsman position with autonomy to act in the public interest.
