SUBJECT:       REQUEST FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION PURSUANT TO AS                                             §44.62.310(C)(1), MATTERS, THE IMMEDIATE KNOWLEDGE OF                                WHICH WOULD CLEARLY HAVE AN ADVERSE EFFECT UPON                           THE FINANCES OF THE GOVERNMENT UNIT. (NEGOTIATIONS                               BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA                                           REGARDING A PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR CITY HALL AND                                 NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN THE CITY AND COOK INLET REGION                INC. REGARDING NEGOTIATIONS OVER A PROPOSED                                           FINANCIAL TRANSACTION REGARDING THE TOWN SQUARE                                   LAND AND CONSTRUCTION OF TOWN CENTER                                                         INFRASTRUCTURE.)

 

Pursuant to Council’s Operating Manual – “Any Councilmember, the Mayor or City Manager may place consideration of an executive session on the agenda…”

 

City Manager Wrede requested an Executive Session regarding “negotiations between the City and the University of Alaska regarding a purchase agreement for City Hall and negotiations between the City and Cook Inlet Region Inc. regarding negotiations over a proposed financial transaction regarding the Town Square land and construction of Town Center infrastructure” for the Regular Meeting of February 11, 2008. This has been publicly and internally noticed since that time.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Approve the request for Executive Session and conduct immediately in the Conference Room.
