Subject: Town Square 35% design

Contract Approval

The 35% design for the new City Hall/Plaza will be complete on March 10. A preliminary plat for the initial dedication of roads into the Town Center and the size and location of the Town Square has been submitted to the Planning Department. During the design of the new City Hall, the City Hall building, site improvements and plaza has been refined, but the design of the Town Square itself has been developed only in concept.

The GC/CM design team is prepared to proceed with the 35% design of the Town Square. Public Works has prepared a scope of work, reviewed the design proposal and has agreed that a reasonable cost to provide the design is $39,250. This will include preparing design documents for the Square (including a detailed construction cost estimate), coordinating this design with the City Hall project, and facilitating public input into the design of this public space. The 35% design will be presented to the Council for approval before moving to final design.

Recommendation: The City Council should approve the award of the above described contract with ECI/Hyer for the design of the Town Center infrastructure in the amount of $39,250 and authorize the City Manager to execute all appropriate documents.
