MAY
28–30, 2008.
Councilmember Roberts would like to attend the Alaska
Municipal League (AML) Communities
Conference on Climate Change in Anchorage, Alaska
May 28-30, 2008.
Alaska’s local governments and citizens have diverse
perspectives regarding the issue of climate change. But across the spectrum, a
growing number of local governments around the state recognize the threats,
challenges and opportunities posed by climate change. They are working to
create new opportunities for Alaska and its citizens by mitigating climate impacts and
adapting operations and services in light of a changing climate.
Designed for local elected officials and professional
staff alike, this meeting will provide practical help for local governments to
begin, or to advance, their response to the climate change challenge. Using a
mixture of general sessions and concurrent sessions, participants will:
- Learn
more about anticipated challenges and policy options to address climate
change; and
- Obtain
tools and resources to help you develop a response to climate change that
is most effective for your community and region.
Cost estimates for travel include round trip airfare from
Homer to Anchorage at $240.00
and room rates at $129.00 per night.
Per diem is $58.00 per day, for three meals.
