Subject: HOMER AIRPORT TERMINAL – FLOORING REPLACEMENT PROJECT

On December 18, 2008 sealed bids were opened for the Airport Flooring Replacement Project which consists of replacing the 15 year old carpeting with ceramic floor tiles. This Invitation to Bid was advertised in the Homer News on 11/20 & 11/27 and in the Peninsula Clarion on 11/23, 2008.

This includes all labor and materials associated with the removal of the existing carpeting and the supply and installation of the new floor tiles. The bid results are as follows.

4D Carpet One, Soldotna, AK	$ 92,403.00
North Star Paving & Const. Soldotna, AK	$ 73,038.77
Steiner’s North Star Const. Homer, AK	$ 48,458.00
East Side Carpet Anchorage, AK	$ 66,896.00

The bids have been reviewed for accuracy and compared to the specifications supplied by all bidders in relation to the City Specifications as well as to one another and we find all bids to meet or exceed our basic requirements.

Recommendation:

Award this bid to Steiner’s North Star Construction, P.O. Box 1708, Homer, AK 99603 in the total amount of $48,458.00.

Fiscal Note:

The 2008 Airport Reserves approved budget (Account No. 156.388) contains a total of $70,000.00 for this project.
