RE: WIRELESS INTERNET FOR HOMER HARBOR REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

Background

A Request for Proposal for the right and opportunity to design, install and maintain all systems required to provide year around, high quality, and high speed wireless internet service to the Port and Harbor of Homer was advertised in the Homer News on June 11, 2009 and June 18, 2009 with an original proposal due date of July 2, 2009. The due date was then extended to July 16, 2009. Three proposals were received. A committee met and rated the proposals. The selected proposal was from Subconscious Logic. They will provide this service at no charge to the City of Homer, in fact Subconscious Logic will pay the City of Homer Port & Harbor $50.00/month for use of the facilities and utilities.

Recommendation

Authorize the City Manager to enter into a one year contract to provide internet access to the Homer Harbor with Subconscious Logic.
