SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HOMER, ALASKA, AMENDING TITLE 21 ZONING AND PLANNING TO UPDATE 21.41 FLOOD PRONE AREAS AND ADOPTING (BY REFERENCE) THE FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAPS (FIRM) DATED SEPTEMBER 25, 2009.
The Homer Advisory Planning Commission reviewed and held a Public Hearing regarding an ordinance developed with the input of the regional FEMA representatives, which, if approved, makes changes to Homer City Code pertaining to Flood Prone Area. A Public Hearing was conducted by the Planning Commission August 5 and no one from the public testified. The recommended changes are addressed in the staff report and minutes included Meeting the requirements for continued participation in the FEMA Flood Insurance program include adoption of the FIRM and ordinance language prior to the date of September 25, 2009.
Recommendation:
The Homer Advisory Planning Commission
recommends the Homer City Council adopt the ordinance as proposed.
