Subject: Meeting Issues - 2010

At the September 17 Special Meeting of the Economic Development Commission, the four members present unanimously approved two motions dealing with commission meetings in the next calendar year.

First, the EDC recommends that the City Council keep the existing meeting schedule for the Economic Development Commission; that is, for regular meetings to be held the 2^nd Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

EDC members noted that because the Alaska Open Meetings Act prohibits discussion between members of advisory bodies outside of scheduled and publicly advertised meetings, it is particularly important that EDC members have the opportunity to meet at least once a month.

The EDC approved a second motion requesting that the City Council allow telephonic participation at commission meetings, in keeping with the spirit of the Open Meetings Act.
