RE: Homer Spit Trail (Phase II) - Fishing Hole to End of Spit

Scenic Byways Grant - Design

The City has obtained a grant to assist us in designing the next extension of the Homer Spit Trail. The amount of the grant is $63,000 and will fund design, permitting and right-of-way coordination.

ADOT is in the process of preparing a memorandum of understanding that will shift design and construction responsibilities from DNR to the City. The memorandum will be presented to the City Council for approval in the next few months. Public Works is working to obtain design documents prepared to date.

Public input will be obtained as design of this improvement is completed.

Recommendations: The City Council approve the acceptance of the grant and authorize the City Manager to execute all appropriate grant documents.
