RE: SELDOVIA VILLAGE TRIBE / LEASE OF LOT 21

Background

Fifteen parcels on the Homer Spit were put out for RFP for lease proposals with a deadline of May 8, 2009. Seldovia Village Tribe submitted a proposal for a new lease for Lot 21, Homer Spit Subdivision No. 5 on Freight Dock Road. Seldovia Village Tribe was the only respondent. The Lease Committee reviewed this proposal at its May 18, July 9 and July 15, 2009 meetings. The Port and Harbor Advisory Commission also reviewed this proposal at their May 27 and June 24, 2009 meetings. After discussion, the following motion was made by the Lease Committee at their July 15, 2009 meeting:

HAWKINS/ABBOUD- MOTION THE LEASE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS THAT THE HOMER CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE A LEASE WITH SELDOVIA VILLAGE TRIBE FOR LOT 21 AND TO WORK TO SECURE ALL NECESSARY AGREEMENTS AND MEMORANDUMS OF UNDERSTANDING FOR THE PROPOSED RAMP ACCESS AND THE LOADING PIER AT JJ FLOAT AS THEY WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME CITY PROPERTY.

There was no further discussion.

Vote . YES. NON-OBJECTION. UNANIMOUS CONSENT.

Motion carried.

Recommendation

Authorize the City Manager to enter into lease negotiations with Seldovia Village Tribe.
