AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE HOMER POLICE DEPARTMENT PARTICIPATION IN THE TOBACCO ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM, APPROPRIATING $5,000.00 FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA FOR THIS PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services must meet federal Synar requirements for inspections of retail stores for the sale of tobacco products to underage persons; and
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Health would like to contract with the Homer Police Department for an amount not to exceed $5,000 on a reimbursement basis; and
WHEREAS, the reimbursable costs are outlined in Appendix D. of the Contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Homer City Council authorizes the Homer Police Department participation in the Tobacco Enforcement Program, appropriates $5,000.00 for this program and authorizes the City Manager to execute the appropriate documents.
Section 1 The sum of $5,000.00 is hereby appropriated to the following account in the respective amount:

Section 2. This ordinance is a budget amendment only and is not of a permanent nature.
