                                                             ORDINANCE 02-50                                                           

 

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, APPROPRIATING $269,500.00 FROM THE SPECIAL PROJECT RESERVE ACCOUNT IN THE CIP FUND FOR DISASTER REPAIR.

 

WHEREAS, In the City of Homer the City Manager signed a declaration of Emergency on October 29, 2002 due to unusually severe and persistent weather conditions, recognized by the Homer City Council on November 4, 2002 during their regular meeting as the official findings of fact that an emergency exists via Emergency Ordinance 02-49(A); and

 

            WHEREAS, The City will pursue Federal and State funding to assist with the cost of the repairs, but these funds are not immediately available; and

 

WHEREAS, Public Works Department has been overwhelmed by the financial cost, man hours and materials involved in keeping roads opened and working on road repairs; and

 WHEREAS, City crews are involved in preparing the city infrastructure for winter, and the storm damage needs to be repaired expeditiously to avoid further damage, we are requesting these additional funds to procure outside services to accomplish the repairs. 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the City of Homer finds that an emergency exists and that authorization and funding are as follows:

 

Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to execute the appropriate documents.

 

Section 2. The sum of $269,500.00 is hereby appropriated to the following account:

Section 3.         This ordinance is a budget amendment only, is not of a permanent nature and is a non code ordinance

 

            PASSED AND ENACTED by the Homer City Council this 25th day of  November, 2002.
