ORDINANCE 03-54

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING THREE ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION HIGHWAY SAFETY GRANTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.00 EACH AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, The Homer Police Department is in receipt of three Alaska Department of Transportation (ADOT) Highway Safety Grants in the amount of $5,000.00 each; and

WHEREAS, $5,000.00 was received for 2003 Seatbelt Enforcement Blitz, to provide overtime saturation patrols to increase seatbelt use to reduce fatalities and injuries; and

WHEREAS, $5,000.00 was received for 2003 Impaired Driving Enforcement Blitz and Media Campaign to provide overtime saturation patrols with the goal to save lives by arresting and punishing alcohol and drug impaired drivers; and

WHEREAS, $5,000.00 was received for 2003 Impaired Driving and CPS/Seatbelts Enforcement to provide overtime saturation patrols in high traffic areas during peak times to maximize enforcement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Homer :

Section 1. That the three grants for ADOPT are hereby appropriated as follows and that the City Manager is authorized to execute the appropriate documents:
