ORDINANCE 03-64

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A STATE HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $562,923.00, FOR FIRST RESPONDER PREPAREDNESS AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, On October 24, 2003 the Mayor was notified that the City of Homer was being granted $562,923.00 from the State Homeland Security Grant Program for First Responder Preparedness; and

WHEREAS, The Chief of Police has been working with the Kenai Peninsula Borough's Office of Emergency Management and with ProComm Alaska on security this grant for over a year; and

WHEREAS, This grant is specifically directed towards the Homer Police Department needs for interoperable communications; and

WHEREAS, This grant will be used to upgrade the Homer Police Department Dispatch Center and to replace the existing radio system at the Police Department.

NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Homer Ordains:

Section 1. That the State Homeland Security Grant is hereby accepted and appropriated as follows and that the Mayor and Chief of Police are hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents:

Section 2. This ordinance is a budget amendment only, is not of a permanent nature and is a non code ordinance.
