ORDINANCE 04-21
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A 2004 SEATBELT
ENFORCEMENT BLITZ GRANT OF UP TO $9,900.00 FROM THE ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PUBLIC
FACILITIES HIGHWAY SAFETY GRANT AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, The Homer Police Department is in receipt of an Alaska Department of Transportation (ADOT) Highway Safety Grants in an amount up
to $9,9000.00; and
WHEREAS, The grant period is from May 24, to June 6, 2004; and
WHEREAS, The goal of the seatbelt enforcement campaign is to save lives by having a high visibility enforcement message; and
WHEREAS, The Homer Police Department will be reimbursed for overtime services in an amount up to $5,000.00 and maintenance of vehicles in an
amount up to $400.00 and will reimburse for equipment of grant conditions are met; and
WHEREAS, The Homer Police Department will submit all enforcement data sheets by June 15, 2004 and will work a minimum of 40 hours overtime;
and
WHEREAS, After meeting the conditions of the grant the Homer Police Department can purchase one radar unit or one video camera unit up to
$4,500.00 in value.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Homer :
Section 1. That the highway safety grant from the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT/PF) for 2004 Seatbelt
Enforcement is hereby appropriated as follows and that the Chief of Police is authorized to execute the appropriate documents:
