ORDINANCE 04-49

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING AN ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, COMMUNITY ADVOCACY, DESIGNATED LEGISLATIVE GRANT, 05-DC-052, IN THE AMOUNT OF $130,000.00 FOR THE NEW HOMER ANIMAL SHELTER PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, The City of Homer was advised of the possibility of an additional appropriation through some discretionary funds by Representative Paul Seaton; and

WHEREAS, The discretionary funds are unrestricted federal receipt money, not general fund money; and

WHEREAS, The City requested that this type of appropriation be for the Homer Animal Shelter project; and

WHEREAS, During the Regular City Council meeting of May 25, 2004, Representative Seaton announced that $130,000.00 was appropriated for the Homer Animal Shelter Construction Project; and

WHEREAS, The City of Homer received notice on September 28, 2004 of the award of the FY 2005 Designated Legislative Grant and Grant Agreement for a grant in the amount of $130,000.00.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Homer:

Section 1. That the grant of $130,000.00 from the Alaska Department of Community and Economic Development, Division of Community Advocacy, FY 2005 Designated Legislative Grant is hereby accepted and appropriated as follows and that the City Manager is authorized to execute the appropriate documents:
