ORDINANCE 05-37

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A $1 MILLION LEGISLATIVE GRANT FROM THE ALASKA STATE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (DCED) FOR THE NEW HOMER PUBLIC LIBRARY AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS

WHEREAS, The Library Project bids were higher than anticipated; and

WHEREAS, The Mayor and Council, City Staff, Library Staff and Advisory Board lobbied the state legislators for additional funds for the New Homer Library Project; and

WHEREAS, State Senator Stevens and State Representative Seaton understood the dilemma of the City and the possible jeopardy to the project and worked to secure additional funding for the New Homer Library Project.

NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Homer Ordains:

Section 1. That the City Council hereby accepts and appropriates $1 million from DCED for the New Homer Library Project and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents:

Expenditure: 151-722 Add to New Homer Library Project Budget $1,000,000.00

Section 2. This ordinance is a budget amendment only, is not of a permanent nature and is a non code ordinance.
