ORDINANCE 06-06

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA APPROPRIATING AND AUTHORIZING THE USE OF THE PORT AND HARBOR RESERVE FUND UP TO $90,000.00, AUTHORIZING THE EMERGENCY REPLACEMENT OF THE DAMAGED GANGWAY AT RAMP 7 WITH AN ADA COMPLIANT GANGWAY 80 FEET IN LENGTH, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS

WHEREAS, On January 18, 2006 at approximately 1500 hours the FV Aurous a 127 foot LOA, struck the gangway that connects Ramp 7 to the large boat float on the east side of the Small Boat Harbor, System 5 and the gangway was damaged beyond repair; and

WHEREAS, The Ramp 7 gangway provides the only access to the float system where the USCGC Roanoke Island, the USFWS RV Tiglax and up to 25 other vessels 80 feet to 150 feet LOA berth; and

WHEREAS, This is a public safety issue and expedited replacement of the Ramp 7 gangway is necessary to provide permanent safe access to these vessels; and

WHEREAS, The work has been estimated to cost $84,300.00.

NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Homer Ordains:

Section 1. That the City Council hereby appropriates and authorizes the expenditure of the Port and Harbor Reserve Fund up to $90,000.00, authorizes the emergency replacement of the damaged gangway at Ramp 7 and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the appropriate documents:
