ORDINANCE 06-10(S)

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL FUND - FUND BALANCE FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT VEHICLE MAINTENANCE IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,000.00 AND FOR LAND SALE EXPENSES IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000.00 AND $3,000.00 FOR ALASKA MUNICIPAL LEAGUE SUMMER SESSION RECEPTION; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

WHEREAS, Due to some unforeseen circumstances the Fire Department is requesting an addition to line item 100.150.5207, Vehicle Maintenance, in the amount of $12,000.00; and

WHEREAS, The increased amount for the Fire Department will facilitate repairs to 1995 Suburban and Medic 1.; and

WHEREAS, Council is conducting a Joint Worksession with the Advisory Commissions and Board regarding the Land Allocation Plan; and

WHEREAS, Should the Council decide to sell some of the City land that is designated for resale there are certain costs involved for appraisals, advertising, closing costs, etcetera and this was not budgeted; and

WHEREAS, The Alaska Municipal League (AML) Board of Directors approved conducting the Summer Session in Homer, to be held August 10 -13; and

WHEREAS, AML staff has advised us to expect up to 250 individuals in attendance from around the State; and

WHEREAS, It is typical for the host City to have a welcoming reception; and

WHEREAS, This Summer Session will be a great economic boost to Homer; and

WHEREAS, The reception will assist in encouraging further sessions and other governmental organizations in conducting their conferences in Homer.

NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Homer Ordains:

Section 1. That the City Council hereby authorizes and appropriates funds as follows from the General Fund - Fund Balance for Fire Department Vehicle Maintenance in the amount of $12,000.00 and for land sale expenses in the amount of $15,000.00 and $3,000.00 for an AML Summer Session reception and that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute any and all appropriate documents.
