ORDINANCE 06-14

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF HOMER, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (USDA) GRANT OF $12,500.00 AND A RASMUSON FOUNDATION GRANT OF $12,500.00 FOR THE FIREPLACE IN THE NEW HOMER LIBRARY BUILDING PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS.

 

            WHEREAS, A fireplace was listed by members of the public as one of the most desired features for the new Homer Public Library in early meetings with project architects; and

 

            WHEREAS, The City of Homer has taken advantage of opportunities to apply for an amendment to its USDA Rural Development grant for the new library and to apply for a new Tier 1 grant from the Rasmuson Foundation to help cover the costs of a fireplace in the new library; and

 

            WHEREAS, These applications have been approved.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Homer:

 

            Section 1.  That the City of Homer accepts an additional $12,500.00 from the U. S. Department of Agriculture for the new Homer Public Library and also accepts $12,500.00 from the Rasmuson Foundation for the purpose of providing a fireplace in the New Homer Library Building Project as follows:

            Section 2.  That the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the appropriate documents.

 

            Section 3.  This ordinance is a budget amendment only, is not of a permanent nature and is a non code ordinance.
